How can I order?
If it is a simple dessert cake, pastries, or a dessert buffet, feel free to call or e-mail and we will take your order. This is also possible if you are looking for a decorated cake, but, depending on what you have in mind, a complicated cake may require more extensive communication. For wedding or larger specialty cakes, you may schedule a consultation and tasting so that we can design a cake especially for you.
How far in advance should I order?
In order to give your order the full attention it deserves, we book a limited amount of baking each week. The earlier we have you on the calendar the better. We advise booking your wedding or special occasion decorated cake up to six months (or even a year) in advance. A simple dessert cake should be booked two weeks ahead so we can be sure to put you in the schedule. Of course, if it is the last minute and you only have a day or two, call us and see if we can make it work.
Is there a minimum order?
All decorated cakes carry a minimum charge of $150.00. Mostly for cookies, pastries, etc. there will be a minimum number depending on the size of a small batch. However, you should always call to see if we can accommodate your order because depending on what we are making in a given week, we may be able to supply what you need.
How are your decorated cakes priced?
Because all of our decorated cakes are custom designed just for you, each is priced individually. Among the variables we look at are the number of servings, the complexity of the design, and the time it will take to create your cake. The standard for most bakeries is to price “by the slice,” and a smaller cake that is more complex to create will be priced higher per slice than a larger, simpler one. We are happy to work with you to create a design that will fit your budget, and strive to be able to propose a concept with more than one price option. Keeping this in mind, our pricing for a cake of this kind usually begins at $8.00 to $10.00 per slice.
Are you licensed and insured?
The Eloquent Oven is licensed under the Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health. We are fully insured and Susan is ServSafe certified.
Do you make kosher cakes?
Everything we make is kosher under supervision of the Vaad Hakashrus of Northern California.
Can you bake both dairy and pareve cakes?
We can make dairy or pareve cakes to your order.
