Always a perfectionist who believes that anything worth doing is worth overdoing, Susan Leitner has traveled to take lessons with well-known cake decorators Earlene Moore, Nicholas Lodge, Colette Peters, Debbie Brown, Ron Ben Israel, and Lori Ann Blethen. She is a graduate of the baking and pastry program at the Professional Culinary Institute in Campbell, California. Susan is passionate about using the best ingredients available to create innovative, exciting treats that are as beautiful as they are delicious. She is a member of International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES).

Sandy Mayer enjoys baking and cooking, but organization is her forte. She has dubbed herself Head Gofer and makes sure that everything runs smoothly-- from designing the forms used for cake orders, to making sure the dishes are done. Much more than a gofer, Sandy keeps The Eloquent Oven running efficiently so creativity and practicality coexist.

While we strive to produce cakes, pastries, and confections comparable to the finest to be found anywhere, Susan and Sandy's particular passion is to also make them kosher. Everything is produced in a kosher kitchen under the stringent supervision of the Vaad Hakashrus of Northern California.

Of course, it goes without saying that we are fully in compliance with the regulations of the State of California under a permit from the County of Santa Clara Department of Environmental Health and that we are fully insured.

An important core value of The Eloquent Oven's business philosophy is the desire to share in the life of its community. We enjoyed meeting some of you the Addison-Penzak’s Simcha Faires in 2009 and 2010 and we happily participated in Jewish Family Service's "Small Plates, High Spirits, and All That Jazz" events in 2008 and 2009. We are looking forward to participating when Environmental Volunteers opens their new EcoCenter in the not too far-distant future, after having participated in their Birds and Blooms event in 2009.
